Serving Minors, Social Host Liability Laws & Drunk Driving Charges
As the weather gets nicer we see more house parties. A parent hosting a party where they know there is alcohol being served to minors is a terrible idea. Parents can be held liable under the social host liability laws. Even worse, if one of the minors that attended the party is charged with OUI, DUI or drunk driving it can really complicate matters.
The worst case scenario is when a minor gets into a car accident where the minor kills himself or others. If a motor vehicle homicide or manslaughter case is connected to the party, it can cause serious penalties for the host.
